installing XP on SATA drive with Intel D865GBF

I'm running XP Pro SP2 (all updates installed) with a D865GBF and two
drives: Maxtor Ultra 160 GB IDE (formatted with a 60GB and a 92GB partition;
the first partition has the XP SP2 installation), and Maxtor 300GB SATA
(formatted with a 70 GB and a 230 GB partition). All four partitions are
properly recognized as NTFS under XP.

I'd like to install a fresh copy of XP on the SATA 70 GB partition, which is
empty (the other three partitions are in use). My XP installation disk is
pre-SP1 though, and it does not properly recognize the SATA drive (it
reports only one partition for the drive, 137 GB, and says the partition's
file system is "unknown" rather than NTFS).

Can anyone point me to instructions as to which SATA drivers to provide and
how to integrate them into a slipstream XP installation disk? Thanks.

Since you can only install one (1) copy of Windows XP
on the same computer using the unique Product Key, you'll
need to purchase a new copy of Windows XP for installation.
The new Windows XP CD will have SP2 included. As long
as you make the proper drive settings in the BIOS, there will
be no need to integrate the SATA drivers as the new Windows
XP CD with SP2 includes them.

To resolve your issue, you can easily make a new Windows XP Pro
CD with SP2 slipstreamed in, then install.

Either one of the following utilities makes slipstreaming
(integrating) SP2 into Windows XP a breeze:

or

AutoStreamer 1.0.33 (preferred)

SP2 does not have intels drivers for the ICH5 SATA controller, simply boot
to xp cd,use the F6 option, install the drivers, proceed on to xp install
after.

Thanks, but 1) I don't have a floppy drive for the F6 option; and 2) I'm not
sure what drivers to use.

The Maxtor SATA drive comes with drivers, but I think they're for use with a
Maxtor controller card, not with the controller on the Intel board.

The Intel web site has a SATA QFE for the motherboard, but the only .sys
files in it are atapi.sys and pciidex.sys.
