installing xp on a sata hdd

i can install win 98 on my sata hdd but it won't et me install windows xp. i
think it may be an issue with the drivers but, how do you install the driver
before installing windows xp?

any help would be appreciated.

Hi Christopher,

You will need to use the floppy disk containing the drivers that came with
the Motherboard or the SATA controller if the controller is a PCI expansion
card. If, instead of on floppy, the drivers are on CD, you will need to copy
the drivers from the CD (or d/load the drivers from the manufacturer's
website) to the root directory of a formatted floppy.

Early in the XP Setup process (within the first minute or so) you should
see, at the bottom of the screen, a prompt to "Press F6 if you need to
install a third party SCSI or RAID driver...". When you press F6 while this
message still appears on screen (only have a few seconds to do so) there is
no immediate reaction to your having done so.....the install continues for a
few minutes. You will then be prompted to insert the floppy disk that
contains the drivers for the mass storage controller. Insert the floppy,
select the driver and hit ENTER.
