installing xp on a dual boot (w2k server and ME)

I have a dual boot of W2k server and windows ME. I want to install xp
professional on a seperate partition. Does it matter where I start the
installation from? i.e. can I open Windows ME, insert the cd and start
installation or do I have to do it from W2K?

Thanks

Just to add that I have partition magic 6 in windows ME partition. I created
a new logical partition for the installation of xp.
Do I need to start the installation from one of the OS i have or should I
boot from CD?

Thank you

Hi Maha,

You could do the installation either way (i.e., from within an existing
Windows installation or by booting from the install CD).....if you choose to
do the installation from within one of the OSes, ensure that you do the
following during the early stage of Setup (otherwise XP will install within
the Windows installation from which you are running XP Setup):
From the drop-down picklist for Installation Type, select New Installation.
Accept the EULA
Key in the Product Serial Number and click on Next
**Click on the Advanced Options button**
**Click in box beside "I want to choose the install drive letter and
partition during Setup" and click on OK**

Regards,
