once i remove the wireless card, Windows is able to start
again.

wld appreciate it if anyone could suggest help or
resourses.

Well... I have just bought four Linksys WMP54GS Wireless
NICs, plus a matching WRT54GS router. My computer reseller
in Brisbane could only get one of the four cards out of
the four to work right out of the box. I have been in
touch with a Linksys engineer who has been very helpful in
suggesting many things, none of which have worked.
Basically when you go to setup the card and try to change
any default setting the whole machine simply locks up. And
the card does not detect the broadcast SSID from the
router either. Strangely the default RF channel for the
router is 6 while the default for the card is 11. And
changing the router did not work either.
I am now at the point of returning them for a refund and
looking at going with Netgear cards. Doing this I will
loose the Linksys Speedboosted capability, but hey at
least I will have a working wireless network.

that's just great.

been reading several reviews about Linksys on the net,
and I must say that the reviews aren't very favourable
about it as well. Am now thinking of switching over to
use USB instead of a network card.

however, is it true that if any of my comps uses a
linksys device, the rest also have to use linksys?

Not true at all. Some features of some devices (like "Turbo", for example)
require everything be the same brand, but for basic functionality (802.11b,
802.11g) all cards meeting the same standard will work together.
