SUMMARY
We want to install Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition into its own partition on a Dell 300 Server. Windows XP Professional and Office Professional are running in a different partition as a PC platform for guest users. The client has decided to use the server as a guest PC primarily until we complete a trial of Windows 2003 Server. Based on the trial we may elect to dedicate a box as server and move the guest PC.
=====================
We're installding on a partitioned Dell 300SC Server. The server is running Windows XP Professional and Office Professional as a PC platform in one of the partitions. The Windows 2003 Server documentation states that we should receive an option to change drives when we insert the CD-ROM. Instead, we received a message that it can not be installed because there is no upgrade to Windows 2003 Server from XP.
We do not want to upgrade. We do want a clean install of Windows 2003 Server in a separate partition. Please direct me to where I can go to get coaching on addressing this issue and completing the trail.
NOTE: we have access to Partition Commander, a utility that purports to allow management and change to partitions - outside Windows.
Thank you,
Chris Bennett
