My ACER TRAVELMATE 210TXV laptop with windows ME hung and I could not restart it even in safe mode.
It hung everytime ( in normal or safe mode) just after the desktop bakground appears.Fed up and decided to reinstall the OS as I could not figure out the solution.

I rebooted the laptop with windows 2000 boot disks through floppy drive and after that it asks for windows 2000 pro installation CD.But my CD-ROM has not been working.I have a external usb based BENQ CD-RW/DVD-R to connect to my laptop.

Can anyone suggest me how to run the windows 2000 professional setup from this external CD-RW/DVD-R instead of laptops' internal CD-ROM??? Highly appreciate your help and many thanks!!

Start the computer and enter BIOS

    • Now set your boot formation as follows 1st boot CD ROM or DVD
    • Disable ALL the other boot devices.
    • Press F10 to save your settings in BIOS.
    • Insert your OS disk
    • Install and follow the instructions setting you desired preferences, authentic windows key/language/country Etc:
    • Upon completion of the set up restart the PC.
come back if that fails;)
