Installing W2K -AFTER- XP

Vic

Hoping someone can help me out with installing W2K *AFTER* Xp has been
installed. The laptop here has XP1 Pro on drive C. I'd like to install
W2K on drive F but am concerned the boot loader getting muffed up. Is
there a web site somewhere which explains how to install W2K *AFTER* XP
is on a PC?
Or can someone offer advise on doing this?

Thanks
Vic

After the install replace ntdetect.com and ntldr with XP versions. To be on
the safe side create a boot floppy before hand and test. For the floppy to
successfully boot Windows XP the disk must contain the "NT" boot sector.
Format a diskette (on a Windows XP machine, not a DOS/Win9x, so the NT boot
sector gets written to the floppy), and copy Windows XP versions of ntldr,
ntdetect.com, and boot.ini to it.

Proper procedure would be to create a folder at the root and copy the present
xp versions to that folder.

Install W2K and boot to it. From w2k copy the backed up versions back to
the root overwriting the w2k versions.

Shutdown and reboot. You now can boot either.

Not the way I would go about it. The boot floppy proves the method and means
before implementation.
