Installing SP2 update on windows embedded SP1

G

Guest

I am trying to install SP2 update on a licensed XP Embedded SP1.
The file is downloaded from the net.
I am running it under administrator account.
No other program (e.g target designer, component designer or Component
database manager) is running on any of the machines.
The embedded tools get updated.

When updating Component database :
It fails with a message " Error deleing any of the files form the repository
" You dont have enough permission to perform the action. The same file is
easily deleted when i delete it manually.
Even after deleting the file , same message appears.
The problematic file is 67c8..someting

thnx in advance

BONTZ,

I do not recall any "deleting" stuff in the Database update for SP2.

Anyway, try setting up write permissions on the Repostory share for the account you are logged in.
Or switch to the local path to the Repository if it is on the same machine as the Xpe Tools.

Hi,

I have the same problem,
I've even tried to set up the write perm.. When I applied the changes
it seemed that they're are aplying (progress dialogue win appeared). But
when I look at the rights again it was back to read only.

I've even tried to change the rights by attrib command from command
prompt, but It didn't help at all. Attrib command shows the directory as
writeable, but the win explorer doesn't.

I've also tried to reinstall the Service Pack 1 Database and then
install the Service Pack DB again ... and it's still the same.(

Petr,

What you look at are attributes and they do not apply to folders.
You need to set network access rights and access rights for certain user on repository folder.
To make sure that you have necessary privileges you can try to access to your repository folder trough network share and see if you
can delete folder.

For quick start give "full access" to "everyone" for both local NTFS security and network access.
