Installing Recovery Console

When I attempted to install the Recovery Console on an SP2 upgraded machine,
I was informed the version of Windows was newer than the Windows XP Pro CD.
Does a work-around exist to install the Recovery Console?

Hi

If you have upgraded to SP2 and you are using a CD from a previous version
of XP, you will see that error message. To install the Recovery Console in
SP2, you will need to create a slipstreamed SP2 CD.

You can download the SP2 file (266 MBs) from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...BE-3B8E-4F30-8245-9E368D3CDB5A&displaylang=en -
or if you have a copy of the SP2 CD, you can copy the xpsp2.exe file from
that CD onto your hard disk/partition and use that:

then follow the directions in the following article to create a slipstreamed
XP CD:

Click on the link below, or copy and paste the link into the address box
if using the web based newsgroup.
Setup cannot continue because.....newer...version.
