installing .net framework on XP Pro

L

Lindsay Cripps

Looking for information on the changes made to XP Pro after installing .NET
Framework 1.1.

I only needed to install it because of a requirement needed by a program I
need to use.

For instance after installing .NET a new user account was created (not
accessible on the boot up welcome screen) but now requires I log on (single
user).

Can I disable this account safely so I can boot up as previous.

Any information appreciated.

Hi Lindsay,

The issue about the forced logon should be solved in one of the windows
update, possibly Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1, try updating your computer
before you disable anything.

I believe this article describes your problem but it is written some time
ago and before messing with the registry try the updates.

Btw, the ASPNET account is the account external users use when you are
running a web server, sort of like a limited guest account that can only
see web pages.
