Installing Jet 3.5 Excel/ISAM driver

I have a program that works w/ Excel using the Jet 3.5 engine. I need to
install the Excel data access options from the Access 2002 setup. BUT, I
can't find them in the add/remove options when I attempt to add the item.
Can anyone tell me where it is on the tree and, if it isn't available in the
setup wizard, if there is another way to get it installed. In the end, I
need to be able to access the TypeGuessRows registry entry and make sure
it's set to 8. W/out the componant installed, that registry entry is
abscent.

Thanks.

Hi Paul,

I don't quite understand what you're saying, but have you tried
registering (or re-registering) msexcl35.dll ?

Also, have you run a "repair" on your Office XP setup ?

msexcl35.dll would be the A97 driver. The 2002 driver would
be msexcl40.dll. Except that I'm not sure if that is used anymore.

Note that the registry reference to msexcl40.dll has been replaced
with a callback into an Access dll.

I don't have Access here so I can't tell you where the Import/Export
stuff is in the Installer, or if the installer was affected by the Excel
Import/Export patch as well

The file msexcl35.dll is not on his system. In a KB article, the suggestion
if the referenced registry item is not present is to do an add/remove on the
MS Office install and select the Excel/ISAM data control in the install
options for Access 2002. But, when I try to do that, I look at all the items
listed in the install options tree for Access and see nothing that refers to
either Excel, ISAM or any other data control. On top of that, all of the
Access options are already installed...but this componant is not available.
I'm wondering if there is another way to install the msexl35.dll and get the
associated registry items.

Figured it out. Copied msexcl35.dll from a machine that had it...registered
it, and was able to run the program.
