Installing Epson printer problem

I am having reinstalling my Epson 880 printer. I remember the last time I
did it I was informed that I had to have "Stimon" running in order to do
this. How do I install Stimon. I may have the spelling of Stimen wrong

Thanks for your help.
The drivers are OK and device manager shows the scanner connected and
working OK
But when I start Epson Smart panel I get the message "The scanner is not
connected

Now you're referring to a scanner. What scanner?

Please excuse me.I was completely wrong in saying it was my printer. I meant
to say my Epson Perfectioin 1200U. scanner.
My only excuse was I have just had an operation and was slightly woozy!!

Two things to try:
Make sure you have the latest drivers for the scanner. If not then
download them and install.
Uninstall the software completely for the scanner. Then reinstall it
following Epson's directions of how to get it running.
Quite often the older models were a little flakey in intitially being picked
up through USB. Once found though they are pretty reliable.
Additionally, try a different USB port on the computer. It may make a
difference.

Hopefully you didn't need that operation because of too much morris dancing.

Downloaded the latest driver Uninstalled the software. Instlled again. Tried
a different USB port. .
Plugged in the scanner and had "found new hardware". Asked for the CD to
install software and sofware installed
Opened smart panel to scan and got the message "The scanner cannot be
detected"
Checked the device manager and scanner shown as working OK
What do you suggest now!

Do you have any software that you use for photo editing, such as Photoshop?
If so does that software pick up the scanner and see it?

Yes I have Adobe Photo De Luxe BE and when I tried to access the scanner I
got
"Could not complete your request because of a problem with the scannner"

I am pleased to tell you that after I downloaded the latest driver I can use
my scanner again.
