Installing Critical Updates...

I'm running the Belarc Advisor for a full inventory of my system and it is
telling me that there are a few Critical and Important updates I must have
marked as hidden a long time ago. I'm interested in getting a clean bill of
health from Belarc and want to install all of the previously missed updates.
How can I install one given update without restoring all the hidden updates?

Thanks!

Belarc is not always accurate.

Visit the KB article for each update you 'need' and download it.

Now - you might have to go to the "IT Professional" page for some
downloads - but my questions would be...

- Why did you hide the updates in the first place? If you want them now,
why didn't you just install them in the first place?

- How many of these are they?

- Why not unhide, install the ones you need to, hide the others - I just
cannot imagine there is that many hidden for you?

- In what way are you installing updates (web, automatic updates?)

I would listen to 'Windows Update' over Belarc when it comes to what updates
you need to install.

Adding to Shenan's answer to which I must agree with her on all the points all you
need to do is to click on the word Details beside the ones that are marked as
missing in Belarc and it will take you directly to those downloads that are missing

The reason I hide some of the updates is that they were not appropriate: for
example one of the critical updates was for Outlook 2007 and I do not use
Outlook 2007. Upon further examination I note that none of the critical
updates were germane to me nor appropriate. I should have examined what
Belarc was telling me before posting here. Most of the hidden updates were
for language packs I do not need/use.

I hate to have wasted your time and my own. My apologies.

You didn't 'waste' a lot of anyone's time, and a couple of people might
have learned something in this thread - such as questions about
Belarc's accuracy.

Be assured that you can find a few(!) posts in this NG that will
totally assuage any guilt you might be tempted to feel :)
