installing a hard drive as a slave

I am fairliy novice at computer installs but i have read a lot of literature
on installing a hard drive the only thing im not sure of is the little pins
on the back for configuration of master no slave or slave to master or two
other settings i went on the web site but still un clear of which two pins
two bridge Quantem fireball se is the make of the hard drive only want to
store mp3 and jpeg gif images thanks alot phatboy

What you need to do is to take your hard disk and look carefully
at the label it has some pictures that show you which pins are where
and what exactly they mean you then pick then one that says "Slave"
and place the pins accordingly if you you get them wrong then
your PC simply won't recognise the disks if this happens then
you can try another setting until you succeed by the way have
you ever considered how readability improves when you use
standard punctuation and a spelling checker people will pay
you a lot more respect when you make this little effort.

Thanks alot for the advice and the tip .Will try both and let you know how i
fair out.

Remember that when you add an extra drive as a slave it is sometimes
necessary to change the first drive to "master".

the "jumper" settings should be shown in a diagram on the actual disk drive
itself as in what position the jumper switch things should be in for the
various setting i.e. "Slave" or "master".
