Installing A Backup DNS on Win2k Server Box ...

I would like to install a backup DNS on a Terminal Server box running
Windows 2k Server. We no longer have the box activated as a Terminal
Server and I wanted to back up the DNS on this box from the Domain
Controller on the network which also runs Win2k Server and make this
the backup DNS box.

The Domain Controller acts as the primary DNS, DHCP and hosts the
Active Directory. We have a small network but I would feel safe if we
had a backup DNS so I could possibly have minimal downtime if the main
server fails. Any suggestions are definitely welcomed.

Thanks In Advance...

While having an Alternate DNS is advisable, having a Replica DC would be
recommended. That way, you not only have your alternate DNS server, you'll
have a replica DC to authenticate users if the main DC is offline for any
reason.
To create your replica DC, run dcpromo choosing additional Domain Controller
in an existing domain. Then install DNS, and all AD integrated zones will
replicate to the replica DC.
