Installer Runs On Boot After IE7

I have tried three times to install IE7 and after each attempt the Windows
Installer pops up several times on boot up trying to install MS Office XP
and Paint Shop Pro 8, amongst others, all of which have been installed on
the PC for a long time and are running fine. Reverting to a restore point
prior to the IE7 install puts everything right again. Until I can solve
this I cannot install IE7. Can anyone advise please? I have seen
suggestions of using the Windows Installer cleanup utility to remove
references to these programs but I understand this to be when Installer is
trying to install programs that are not present (i.e. when installation was
aborted or the program has been removed).

You should post your question in the IE7 newsgroup *after* you spend
some time reading through the posts there. The IE7 newsgroup is
microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general. There are a huge number of
posts so it would be smart to start by going to Google Groups Advanced
Search. Use a search term that describes your problem, constrain the
search to the IE7 newsgroup and the date to very recently.

And no, I'm sorry but I don't have your answer or I would tell you
now. ;-)

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately I came to this group after drawing
a blank on the IE7 one. Looks as if I will have to continue to rely on my
trusty copy of Firefox. Heaven only knows why installing IE7 screws up
Installer but it is certainly consistent and does it every time.
