Installation problem

hdoc

When installing the game "Liberty's Kids", which is
compatible with Windows XP, installation fails. Message
labelled "severe" cannot create directory, current file
*.*

I am on the primary (and only) user account. It also
fails the same way if I install using the program
compatibility wizard under accessories.
I tried creating the directory myself prior to
installation, but to no avail.

Any ideas?

Hi hdoc,

According to Broderbund's specifications, that is an XP
compatible game. Since you have only one user account
which you're using to install it, try making it an administrator
account during the installation of the game. This should
overcome any user limitations preventing your from installing
Liberty Kids, and you can change it back right afterwards.

I thought that the single account i had on the PC was by
definition an administrator account. How do I go about
making sure I have administrative rights to install the
program on my PC?

Thanks,
HDoc

Hi Hdoc,

You can change an account type from Limited User to
Administrator or back in Control Panel / User Accounts.
Click the "Change an Account" task to begin the process. :)

Any ideas?

I have the SAME problem with the latest Zoombinis, I have 4 user
accounts and they all have administrator set. Any other ideas out
there, I think this has happened to me with othe Learning Company
problems, and I just gave up :)

Thanks to anyone with an idea.

Hi Philip,

Test install the game on another computer (what else
are friends for) to be sure there isn't a flaw in the game
itself. If it installs correctly, your access controls may
be incorrectly set on your system. The fastest way to
correct that would be to repair your Windows system.

Unplug from your Internet connection, and then repair Windows:
using this method: http://michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm
Afterwards, boot up your system, turn on your XP Internet Firewall,
plug back into your Internet connection and install all Critical and
