Installation of MUI packs

Hello everyone,

I am new here and to XP embedded, and I am very glad to find this newsgroup.

I have a question on installation of MUI packs. I read that we should
install the SP1 MUI packs first before installing the SP2 packs. However,
while trying to upgrade an existing development system, the SP2 packs were
installed, without us realizing that the SP1 MUI packs were actually not
there (I deduced this from seeing only components with SP2 in the name).

Can I still install the SP1 packs now, or do I have to delete the SP2 MUI
components from using the Components Manager?

Thanks very much for your time and patience!

Rei,

You can still install the SP1 MUI packs- they will create their own
repositories to hold the files that were shipped as part of SP1 MUI. If a
component was updated for SP2 you will only see the SP2 version displayed in
Target Designer, as the latest version of a component always takes
precedence.

Hi!

Thanks alot! I managed to import the SP1 MUI components successfully and run
the dependencies without errors. However.... the build "hanged" after a
while! I tried to reboot and rebuild, but the same thing happened.

I looked at the log file, and the build hanged while the following message
was displayed:
"Windows XP Service Pack 2 OOB Resource DLL: copying
C:\Windows\system32\mui\040D\xpob2res.dll"

This configuration had Arabic, Czech, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Polish and
Russian languages in it.

I tried to create another configuration using Asian languages, and the same
thing happened, but the log file stopped at the message
"Windows XP Service Pack 2 OOB Resource DLL: copying
C:\Windows\system32\mui\....(I lost this part of the data)\xpsp2res.dll"

I did another build without the MUI components, and it built fine. I did a
build with just 1 component, and it "hanged" for a while at the same place,
but managed to recover and built successfully.

Please help! What went wrong? Did I forget to install something?

Many thanks!

Erm... after 2 hours, my build completed. I think I need to get more RAM on
my build machine. So sorry for the post :(
