Installation fails at "Expanding Files"

I posted this message on a different Vista newsgroup and was told to repost
here.

I have not been able to install the Vista Beta 2 Customer Preview Program
version.
I am using the DVD shipped by Microsoft. The computer I am trying to install
on is a Shuttle model X:
Motherboard: Shuttle FT61
Chipset: ATI Radeon 9100 IGP
Memory: 1024 MB
Bios: Award (08/31/04)
HD's: Two(2) 185 Gb in RAID configuration
Raid: SiliconeImage on motherboard

I upgraded Windows XP and all drivers I could find before starting.

First I tried as an upgrade to the current Windows XP with SP2. It just
lock-ups the compter anyware from 12% to 49% of the "Expanding Files"
process. Second, I booted my computer in Safe Mode and tried the install. A
message informed me tha an "upgrade" from Windows XP is not available in that
mode. So, I chose a new install. After a while I received a message that the
SiliconeImage RAID driver could not be installed and that the computer may
not boot-up after the install. I did not want an inoperative system after
all that effort, so I aborted the installation.

I would appreciate any advice.

I thought I had this problem to. What it is, is that the screen is not
updating. Look at your HDD light it should still be active.....

Give it up to 1 hour depending on where it freezes and what your processor
is...

Hope it helps you out

Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunatly, it did not work in my case.
During the "expanding files" phase the installation progessed up to 21% and
the computer rebooted. After that, the "expanding files" continued untill 29%
when hard disk activity stopped. I left the computer on over night, but the
progress was still at 29% and the system locked up in the morning.
