Installation error

I tried to install Vista more than 6 times on my computer (Motherboard: Asus
P4S800, Intel P4 2,67 GHz, 512 MB 333 MHz DDR + 512 MB 400 MHz DDR, DVD
writer, reader, GeForce Fx5200 128 MB). Every time I got the same problem (I
tried also two DVDs downloaded two times). After the installation is ready I
start the Vista and I get a black screen with some small colorful strips at
the bottom. I can start Vista in Safe Mode every time, and if I choose Last
Know Good Configuration it will start also in normal mode, but only once. So,
if I want to start Vista I have to choose this option and I cannot do
anything with the oparation system, because next time it won't work again and
if I choose Last Know Good Configuration it will go back to the clean version.
Can somebody help me? Is this maybe a VGA erro and I need to
install/uninstall a driver?

I too am getting the same kind of error

When i do the upgrade, the system boots for the second time during the
"Completing Upgrade" step and i get that same bar, using a similar based
card( mine is a XFX card with 128mb on a Geforce FX 5200). It reboots for the
third time, reports an error, and then rollsback to XP SP2. If doing a clean
install, the system just hangs and i need to format and restart... sounds
like the FX 5200 may not be as stable with Vista as Nvidia beleives...

Definitely a graphics card issue. Have you looked on the manufacturers
homepage for a possible update. I am using an ATI 9600 pro, a reasonably
priced card. The ATI Vista updates are working perfectly up to release 5456.
Try safe mode again and lower some of your requiremnts in the
personalisation. (No Aero, 16 bit, 800x600 etc)
