Install touch pad driver into XP problem

In order to get power cat to work as it should (right now it moves the
cursor and the left/right buttons work, but I can't use the edges for
moving stuff left or right, scrolling up and down, or move back and
forward from page to page), I have to download its latest driver. The
install procedure has me in a quandary.

After saving the driver setup file to disk (but not installing it), I'm
to shut down, connect the touch pad to the computer and restart. I'm
then told to uninstall previous mouse drivers and then install the power
cat's driver. My question is if I uninstall the present mouse driver
(which does allow me to use PC to a limited extent), how can I move
about in the screen to click commands/button? Also, how do I uninstall
the present mouse drive and the new driver...what paths do I follow?

Thanks,

Adam

Using the Tab key and pressing the Spacebar as the buttons are selected,
which you will notice as they're getting a grayish dotted line around
them.

To move a dialog, use Alt-Spacebar, then select the row "Move" using the
arrow keys, then press Enter key, then use arrow keys to move the gray
box around the screen (or the actual dialog if you have the option "Show
window contents while dragging" selected), then press Enter key to set
its new position.

Press Escape key to bail out of a dialog (=Cancel button). Press Enter
key to accept what's in a dialog box. Etc, and so forth.
Also, how do I uninstall
the present mouse drive and the new driver...what paths do I follow?

Something like: Control Panel, Mouse, Hardware tab, Properties button,
Driver tab, Uninstall button. Could be very or slightly different
between machines, depending on driver and mouse type.

Also depending on hardware/driver type, you might find a reference to
them in Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel.

Hi Q, Thanks for the info. It will be very helpful. Just one other
question, does uninstalling the mouse driver, totally eliminate it from
the disk, or can I get it back if needs be? As I suspect that it can be
retrieved after uninstalling, how does one get it back? Thanks,
Adam

If you uninstall it, i.e. go via Control Panel remove programs, etc.,
then it is gone. This is usually the purpose of this feature. To remove
programs from the HD drive. If the driver is listed in there, that is.
Otherwise you have to use the button on the Mouse properties dialog box.
As I suspect that it can be
retrieved after uninstalling, how does one get it back? Thanks,

Why would you want it back? You want the new driver installed, right? Or
has the manufacturer indicated that there might be problems with the new
driver? If yes, then I would wait for a fixed version before attempting
to upgrade to the new driver.

If you aren't all that confident you will be able to do this on your
own, I strongly suggest you seek the help of others. It's easy to mess
things up if you don't know what to do when asked a question by the
system. Things usually go rather smooth, but if there's a shaky driver
involved, one never knows...

Hi

Ive got a Lilliput 7" touch screen LCD w/usb controller installed in my
Carputer. Im not sure if this is the problem, but it appears the touchscreen
function dosnt work with service pack 2, Ive done some testing and when i run
an updated version of the driver and configuration software i am able to
configure the touchscreen, but when it comes to manipulation of the mouse in
windows the device dosnt function. the touchscreen layer is controlled by a
usb based controller, the drivers install properly for both the touch screen
interface and its associated mouse component. Im going to try rolling back to
sp1 to see if this works, what im wondering is if there might be driver
isssues with this device and windows xp sp2 based on revised security
policies. I find it bizzare that the device responds during configuration,
driver installation, but not when i want to use it within windows. The
touchpad is manufactured by a company called, eGalax
(http://www.egalax.com.tw/) drivers avaliable here -->

appreciated
