When must i install a customized HAL, some information sources say jou
must install the HAL during the text mode portion of the Windows 2000
setup install.

and order sources say after installing Windows 2000 Server, use Device
Manager to scan for hardware changes. When prompted, install the
customized HAL.

please we can help me

You can change the HAL within Windows. Success depends on which HAL you
are going from and to. Generally if you are going from single processor
to a multiprocessor HAL you will be OK. If you are changing to a
different power management HAL (ie. Standard/ACPI/APM) it most likely
won't work.

Reinstalling Windows with the correct HAL is always the way best to do it.

Since you have a custom HAL your safest bet is DEFINITELY to
reinstall and specify it at installation time. HALs should only be
changed between UP and MP of the same architecture (APM or not) after
installation - and changing from any in-box HAL to a custom HAL after
install is inviting problems...
