Install space issue

Fred

NT Server with a 2GB C partition and a D partition with
about 57GB: NT Server 4.0 SP6 OS. The C drive only has
about 500MB free space, and I need at least 1GB to upgrade
the server to Win2000 ADV Server. Any way to limit the
install space requirements to 500MB with a software
switch? Or, fool WIN2000 Adv Server to load temp files on
D partition while upgrading NT 4.0 on C partition???

AFAIK no. You might consider moving the pagefile to the d drive if you
haven't already done so.

I have not moved the page file - I identified about 250MB
of stuff which could be moved to D, but it did not include
the pagefile - how big is it??

It is different on every server. Search the hard drive for the hidden file
pagefile.sys, or go through the steps to change the drive the page file is
on and that will tell you how big it is.

I don't have a NT server in front of me to give you the exact steps, but
right click on my computer and select properties. One of those tabs will
allow moving and resizing the pagefile.

Fred,

If you haven't found it yet you can change the pagefile settings by right clicking My Computer, selecting Properties, going to
the Performance tab and clicking the Change button in the Virtual Memory section. The dialog that comes up will tell you
which drives you have pagefiles on and what their sizes are. It will also allow you to create one on drive D:, assuming you
do not already have one there, and then remove the one on drive C:.
