Install SP1a

I had a time problem putting together a PC for a friend so I loaded my XP
Pro OS on the machine so he could load his programs while I was out of town.
Now he has his own XP Pro SP1a CD and we need to install it allong with his
serial no's. What is the best way to do that?

If they are both the same type (eg OEM and OEM or Retail and Retail)
then you can simply change the product code without reinstalling. To
do this start the activation process and choose the option to activate
by phone. When activating by phone you have the option to change the
product key. Choose that option and you will be prompted for a new
product key. You can then finish the activation process.

If the products are not of the same type then you'll need to do a
repair install with his XP CD. During the repair install you will be
required to enter the correct product key.
