Install or move

I'm running XP Home on an older 40GB drive and want to
upgrade to an 80GB faster HD. Can I simply "move" my OS
from the C drive to new drive with administrator? Will I
have to unplug the C drive and install fresh to new
drive? I have another drive, external USB that has all my
data mapped to current C drive and don't want to dork that
up.

TIA

Hi Glenn,

Check the manufacturer's website for the make of hard drive that you're
planning on purchasing to see if there is information regarding how to
perform a drive copy using their tools. For example, you can use Maxtor's
MaxBlast 3 to copy from one drive to another, following the instructions
here: http://tinyurl.com/35gzv and Western Digital has Data Lifeguard Tools
11 that can be used to perform a drive copy, following the instructions
here: http://tinyurl.com/3bt6o

Regards,
