I've downloaded the 64 bit version, burned aDVD, and started installing.
After the "loading files" screen the "Windows C 2006 Microsoft Corporation"
appears, and there it stays, without any other feedback. Any clues on how to
proceed?
I have AMD X2 4200, 2 GB RAM, ASRock 939 Dual Sata II Mobo

You can try what iI did with the 32 bit having same problem....when it starts
loading files {hit the f-8 key,as soon as it loads files it gives you the
repair option's screen !! So at this point the installwas mine booted up in
safe mode with command promt!!! Guess what it gave me the install screen and
the wizard was rocking...10 min into and expanding files at 25%!!! =0 go baby

I trace the loading of the drivers, and it seems the installation stops when
loading
\windows\system32\drivers\disk.sys

I've never seen installation halt just because of some disk is not
recognized (I have four in my system, one of which is SATA, three IDE)

After disconnecting the SATA and SATA II cables from the MOBO the
installation went further, but halted again after typing in the product keys.
I downloaded the 32 bit version, it it installation was success (with the
SATA cables disconnected, when connected the problem was the same).
Oh well, this is beta code anyway...

I am having the same problem with the disk.sys error. The installation made
it past teh first two steps, then upon the first reboot into Vista, it
chugged along and then I got the error "Could not load disk.sys.

I can reboot into safe mode and can get a command prompt... but I cannot get
anything else. Does anyone know what to do from here?

How you trace the install program?

I can sorta confirm these issues:

Asus A8N-Deluxe (1017-004 Bios) using a Silicon Image Raid Setup leads to a
stop at disk.sys in save mode and a bluescreen in normal mode.

I tried to disable the full sata system (nvidia ones, nvidia raid and
silicon) at the bios, but no luck.

I tried to install on a 60gb IDE harddisk attached to IDE-0.
I didn't try to unplug the sata cables, but since Bios didn't load the raid
I think it doesn't matter.
