Inserting slides into Powerpoint 2007

When inserting slides from a previous presentation into a new 2007
presentation, I am going into New Slide - Reuse Slides in PP 2007. When
doing that, you can no longer see the actual slide numbers in the second
presentation (it only tells you the total number of slides in the
presentation). Even if you roll over the slide, it will enlarge it, but no
where does it tell you which slide number in the presentation it is. Am I
missing it, or was that not put into 2007?

I see the slide number to the right of the slide thumbnail. Try dragging the
edge of the pane to the left to widen it. That might help.

OK Echo - share the secret... You are seeing the slide number to the right
of the slide thumbnail? All I see is the slide title.... Can you tell me how
you got the slide numbers there, please? (Or, do the slide numbers show if
there aren't slide titles?)

Ahhh. Oops. I pulled up a presentation that was just photos when I
checked -- didn't even think about the fact that there were no titles in
this file.

Sorry 'bout that. Thanks for catching it!

Got it in one.

If the slides don't have titles, you get Slide 1, Slide 2 etc.

And here I was hoping you had found a way to get the slide numbers... Ah
well...

Should this be FAQ'ed? I doubt we are going to remember that little gotcha
for next time....

Echo and you and I all guessed it pretty quickly. Let's see if it comes up
often and enFAQtuate it if so.

I feel better - at least I'm not the only one seeing this! Sounds like a
good "bug fix" for MS Office's next program update! While I'm asking
questions about this window, here's another one: when you are in the same
"reuse slide" window, if the file name (and path) of filenames you are
working with are very long ones, when you are looking in the top drop down
field of filenames, it does not show the full path. In other words, usually,
when you place your cursor over a long filename/path that doesn't fit in the
field, it will automatically display the full path and name in a small popup
window (to let you know which file you are pointing to). When inserting
slides from several different presentations, I find it hard to go back and
forth between those presentations because it doesn't readily show the
filename.

I have the Reuse Slide window fully expanded, and I do see information to the
right of the thumbnail (as well as information when you keep the pointer
still over the slide). Sometimes it lists the slide number, and sometimes it
is the title of the slide. It almost seems like the information given is
determined by the individual slide layout. This makes it difficult to
identify individual slides by number rather than by content.

Long paths/file names can be seen when you undock the task pane. Grab the
title bar for the task pane and drag it to the middle of your screen. Expand
the width and you will be able to see the longer path name.

You already know I agree with that :)
It is not very intuitive AT ALL!
