Inserting EXCEL into WORDS

L

Lee

Hello! Friends:

I try to insert an EXCEL worksheet into WORDS by using (in
WORDS)INSERT/OBJECT/CREATE FROM FILE/(XL filename).

The inserted XL worksheet includes the blank columns that
extend into the right margin of the WORDS page. How can I
exclude these intruding blank columns so that it looks
nicer on the monitor screen? Also, will the grids in the
worksheet showed on the printed WORDS pages? If so, how
can I hide the grids?

Thanks.

P.S. Please pardon me if this question should better be
posted in the WORDS forum.

Hi Lee
Firstly, try TOOLS/OPTIONS/VIEW and uncheck the gridlines
box in the bottom left hand corner.
You can right click on the column header of the blank
column and either hide or delete the column. Make sure
there is nothing in the "blank" column if you are going to
delete it. Hiding it might be a better option.

Regards
Michael

Hi Lee,

Copy Excel data and charts to Word or PowerPoint
Paste the data into Word
Click Paste on the Formatting toolbar (toolbar: A bar with buttons and
options that you use to carry out commands. To display a toolbar, click
Customize on the Tools menu, and then click the Toolbars tab.).
Click Paste Options next to the data, and then do one of the following:
To paste the data as a Word table, click Match Destination Table Style or
Keep Source Formatting.

To paste a link to the Excel data, so that the data in the Word document is
updated whenever you change the data in the original Excel workbook, click
Match Destination Table Style and Link to Excel or Keep Source Formatting
and Link to Excel.

To paste the data as text with each row in a separate paragraph and tabs
separating the cell values, click Keep Text Only.

Your valuable suggestions enable me to hide the grids. But
the intruding columns still appear though without grids
now, as can be seen from the "frame" of the pasted
worksheet. Is there a way to restrict the frame only to
those columns that have contents?

Thanks again.

Hello! Raghu

Thanks for the valuable suggestions.

I followed your instructions by first copying the XL
worksheet, and then in WORDS, I use EDIT/PASTE CELLS
(which is NOT what I want).

I am not able to locate the PASTE OPTIONS. I tried
TOOL/CUSTOMISE, it does not work neither. Could you advise
again esp on where the PASTE OPTIONS are located. Thanks.

If you open the Excel spreadsheet from Word using Edit
(instead of Open), you can modify the size of the object
inserted into Word by grabbing the boundaries and resizing
the object.

Right mouse on the Excel object after inserting it in Word
as you have. Then Worksheet Object>Edit ... then drag the
boundaries.

Hi Lee..........

You might try to highlight only the cells you want to copy.........then
press Ctrl-Shift and select Edit > Copy Picture > As shown on screen >
ok.............then just paste it in to WORD..........resize as you wish by
pulling on the handles........

Thanks. Gentleman

something new to me. However, I prefer to have the
worksheet links to EXCEL and not as a picture. KKindle's
method suits me better.

Thanks anyway.
