Inserting AutoCAD LT2004 objects

Whenever I insert an object, link from file using AutoCAD
LT2004 Excel crashes. When I use AutoCAD LT 2002 the link
works just fine. Any ideas? The scenario is as such,
Create a simple AutoCAD Lt 2004 drawing. Open Excel.
Click Insert object. Pick the Create from File. Choose
browse and find the AutoCAD file. Then select the Link to
File Checkbox. Click ok and then excel crashes. If this
is done using AutoCAD LT 2002, it works just fine.

I have found that excel will crash for me as well, when inserting an object-link of AutocadLT 2004

This sounds like the same issue.

Autocad support:

To insert a DXF file into an Office 2000 document:

1.. Save the DXF file from the Autodesk software as a Release 12
(R12/LT2) format DXF file.
2.. In the Office 2000 application, on the Insert menu, click Picture.
3.. In the dialog box, browse to the DXF file created in step 1 and
select it.
If the Office 2000 application has problems loading the DXF file, check
to see if the DXF file is still open in the Autodesk software. If the
DXF file is open, the Office 2000 application cannot insert the file
into the document until you close the Autodesk software session.

Note: You might need to install the graphic file filter support for
Office 2000 to use this feature.
