Inserted pictures disappear when scrolling -- Why?

Using Word 2002.
Does anyone know why pictures inserted into a Word doc lock-up, freeze and
otherwise disappear when scrolling the page? They reappear only after
grabbing the side of the Word window and increasing or decreasing the window
size. This never happened when I was using my old HP laptop, PIII 700,
384k, but it happens now on my new Sony laptop, Centrino 1.6Ghz, 512k. I'm
using Word from the same Office XP Pro CD that I used on the HP system. The
HP was using Windows XP Pro, while the Sony is using Windows XP Home, but I
don't believe that would have anything to do with it. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Usually this is the sign of a bad graphics driver. Check with Sony to see if
they have an updated driver: if not, report this as a bug to Sony (but a
word of warning, Sony won't give a dam: their support is crap). You could
try going to the Display setup and reducing the graphics acceleration by 3
notches, but graphics performance won't be great.
