insert powerpoint slide keeping source formatting

I am using ppt 2000.

I want to insert a slide from 1.ppt to 2.ppt

After I insert the slide from Insert - 'Slide from Files', this slide does
not retain its original formatting on 2.ppt

I know that ppt 2003 offers a check box 'Keep source formatting' that is not
available in ppt 2000.

Are there any utilities/ workarounds that anyone is aware of to keep the
source formatting even after this new slide is copied to 2.ppt ? Many thqnks!

Not an option in PPT 2000, however there is a work around. Instead of
inserting a slide, go to Insert > Object and then navigate to the
presentation and select it.
