insert checkmark symbol

The insert symbol is not available on my excel sheets (program). I would like
to enter a checkmark in an excel cell(s). When I import Excel to word and
enter them, and then export to Excel, they look great on the screenshot, but
do not print correctly> Any ideas? Thanks.

You can grab the check mark from the Character Map. You
can get to the Character Map from the Start Menu. In my
version of Windows, it's in the Programs / Accessories /
System Tools folder.

If you're using xl2002+, you could use Insert|Symbol (like in MSWord).

If you're using xl2k or below, you could use a nice addin from Chip Pearson:

(look for Symbolizer and make sure you get the correct version)

And you didn't ask, but if you need to know what's in the cell, get another nice
addin from Chip:

(I don't have a guess why they don't print nice for you.)

attempting to find and replace a field with a checkmark. Any assistance would

Perhaps you might be referring to lowercase "b" in Marlett font ?
