inline comments not working

I've set up the inline comments setting in tools, options, and mail format,
but my initials don't show up when I reply to an e-mail. I have Outlook 2003.

I believe it only works for html and rtf formats, not plain text.

Are you using the Outlook-embedded e-mail compose editor or are you
using Word as your e-mail compose editor? I suspect the options you
mention only apply to the embedded editor. When using Word, you'll have
to configure its option on how it handles tracking.
