Inheriting cell formats when using absolute cell references

I have a work sheet where I have cells with various colors of text. I include
some of these cells in another work sheet. But the colors don't go with the
number. Why not? Is there any change of getting this option in new releases
of Excel?

How do you "include" those cells?

If it's a formula like:
=sheet1!a1
then formulas return values--not formatting.

If it's copy|paste, then if you're using two workbooks, make sure both workbooks
are open in the same instance of excel.

If these don't help, it's time to share more info.
