Infrared devices

I am trying to use a ringtone maker program that supposed to let yo
transfer mp3s to your moblie phone via infrared technology. While
have enabled infrared connectivity on my Nokia phone, I think I have t
enable a device on my XP machice, but don't see any infrared device
listed in device manager. This is all new to me and would like an
input available to establish a connection between PC & cell phone

Do you in fact have an infrared device attached to or as part of your
system? If this is a notebook, you may but if this is a desktop I can
almost guarantee you don't have one.

To see if you have one physically on the notebook, look for a "smoked glass"
window on the sides or rear of the lower case. If you don't see one you
don't have one and would need to purchase an IR adapter that would plug in
to a USB port that will be compatible with your phone's IR device.
