Unfortunately, for some reason, the guys that own the server I rent, have
pulled the pliso site, neither myself, nor my host have any idea as to why
(they've just said "it contravened their tos", never said which part or
how). I've asked my host to find out exactly what the reason was, and shall
post it here once I find out.

Apologies to everyone about this, and thanks to Susan for letting me know.

Did anyone check with the authors of the freeware included on the cd if it
was ok to redistribute it?

Did anyone check with the authors of the freeware included on the cd if it

Perhaps the OP should say they have the copyright holderspermission to
distribute copyright material. Maybe the hosts think it is being
distributed without permission?

Bummer! I've read that claims of "unlimited bandwidth" by sellers is
actually false. They evidently have another interpetation of "unlimited".
Maybe that's not the issue here, but I wouldn't be surprised. Thanks for
what you've provided so far anyway :) Maybe it will work out. Wishing you
luck from this side of the pond.

Yep, that's possible. I imagine Steven worked that out, but in any event
he'll see this post and if he hasn't tried that, likely will :) I'm betting
on bandwidth usage. 'course I'm frequently wrong :) hehe I'll never admit
that to the wife though.

I can say for certain that the bandwidth is not the issue, but have a strong
feeling that I do know what the cause of this is (not saying anything until
I know for sure though).

Nah, bandwidth isn't the issue (my iHost site uses a heck of alot more
bandwidth than the pliso one has, and is absolutely fine)....... I'll post
the details when I receive them though )

Were there any Bittorent things happening?

You might want to check Gatecrasher, an ancient malware.

I know some anime sites had trouble.

Not that I'm aware of.

As I didn't know the site had been taken offline until after the fact, I
can't honestly say, as I didn't get the chance to check the logs.

The torrent is still going though. :) It can be found at
http://www.freesoftwarereviews.com/pw2004.iso.torrent
(The torrent hasn't found its way onto any other servers yet :()

More seeders are always welcome. If you already have the ISO just open
the torrent in Bittorrent and select to save the ISO in the folder where
you already have it. [See thread:"Pricelessware CD ISO available via
bittorrent"] We have 5 seeders right now, 2 leechers (downloaders), and
22 completed downloads. 71GB have been transfered so far!

Your server was giving me a little trouble towards the end of my
download and I figured that the ISO download wouldn't work forever. If
it wasn't for your kindness in letting us all download the ISO in the
first place I would never have obtained it and we wouldn't have the
torrent still.

Thank you Steven ;)

I'd just been getting ready to ask whether I'd missed some posts or what,
having not seen the outcome of the story.

In fact, I've not seen anything from Steven for a while.

Calling Steven ... are you there?

Just heard back from him in an e-mail. He's still alive and well,
