inf file (photosmart 7660 printer install)

i am trying in vain to install this printer. i am getting
an error message that the inf file cannot be found. we
have tried a search and cannot locate it in the windows
folder. does anyone have any suggestions?

That's because you need to provide Windows with the inf from your printer
installation disks.
Read, and follow, the installation instructions that came with your printer.

actually the inf cannot be located in windows and we can
see the inf file from the cd. it just can't find the
window\inf file the drop it into.

That would be on your install CD.

You shouldn't have to manually move files anywhere. Make sure you read &
follow HP's installation instructions.
