Inexpensive ound card recommendation?

Hi--
I've been using a cheap IOMagic PCI sound card, with ESS Allegro
ES1989 chip. Can't find any x64 drivers, so it looks like "upgrade"
time.
I don't want powered speakers. The IOMagic drives my passive speakers
loud and clear with 1/2 watt/channel. My onboard Realtek audio can
barely be heard. Its software can't amplify enough.
Is there a cheap, loud card with x64 drivers that anyone likes? How
about a utility that will amplify the output?
Thanks--
Paul

Why not just buy powered speakers? buying powered speaker would be cheaper
than buying a sound card and sound better. Your on board works just not loud
enough.

Onboard works fine if you use headphones, or like you say, just buy some
powered speakers, they start at like $3.00. :)

Super card!

What he wants is a sound card with headphone jack. The Catalina ain't it
and AFAIK, there is no x64 support [yet].

"CATALINA Specific:
The Catalina has been reported by users to work with the Envy 24
64 bit
drivers. We cannot say definitely whether or not the VIA Envy24
drivers
will work with our hardware, but we are unable to support the use
of
third party drivers with our hardware.

Chipset: Envy24HT-S
Reference Unsupported Drivers by the chipset manufacturer at:
www.via.com "

Might be worth a try.
