InetOrgPersonPrevent.ldf errors

R

Rick Friesen

We are in preliminary testing to upgrade our 2000 AD to
2003 AD. Since we've done the Exchange 2000 schema
extensions, the first step in the upgrade is to run
InetOrgPersonPrevent.ldf to fix some Schema issues
(Q314649).

So, we find InetOrgPersonPrevent.ldf on the 2003 Server
CD, extract it and run it according to the instructions.
We even used the actual Administrator account for the
root domain and perfomed the operation on the Schema
Master DC. (I also double-checked that Administrator was
a member of Schema Admins.)

InetOrgPersonPrevent.ldf gives us an error message: Could
not find object.

I then went back to Q314649, opened the AD Schema MMC
console and manually looked for the 3 entries. All three
are there and all three are wrong.

Further, there is no listing anywhere about errors you
might get running InetOrgPersonPrevent.ldf.

What gives?

Rick,

Have you already run the adprep /forestprep for Windows 2003? If so you need
to run the "fix" file from the Inetorgperson kit that can be downloaded from
the public website.

If forestprep has not been run and you're running the "prevent" file first,
try the following.

1) In the Q article you referenced copy the information out to a text file.
Then do the Edit - Replace in notepad and replace the "DC=X" with your
domain name such as "DC=domain,DC=com" without the quotation marks. Run the
replace all.

2) Next at the command prompt remove the -c and DC=X from the syntax.
Example

ldifde -i -f inetorgpersonprevent.ldf -v

The syntax noted in the article is case sensitive with the DC=X.

Hope this helps.

Mark:

Thanks. We have not run adprep /forestprep, which is why
we were kind of surprised at this error (we actually read
the documentation before we started!)

I will try your suggestion.
