Indiana Time Zone Change

Indiana is changing most of the state from Indiana (No Daylight Savings Time)
to Eastern with Daylight Savings time. Is there a script available to deploy
to 500 plus computers that will accomplish this task?

The registry settings for the system time are contained in the following registry key:

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation

Set the time on one system, including the daylight Savings Time option, and then export that key for deploying to the other systems.

After some searching I found the title of KB914837, "Description of issues
related to time zone changes in Indiana".

Armed with the title, I found...

I always thought that Indiana was screwy with their daylight saving time
policy or lack of one.

[[Indiana and Arizona are special cases. Most of Indiana is in the Eastern
Time Zone but does not utilize Daylight Saving Time. Visit the What time is
it in Indiana? site for more information. Arizona, while it is in the
Mountain Time Zone, does not utilize Daylight Saving Time.]]

You know that Indiana was screwy when there's a site titled:

What Time is it in Indiana?
http://www.mccsc.edu/time.html

[[On October 30, 2005, at 02:00 DST, all areas currently operating on
Daylight Saving Time adjusted clocks to 01:00. In Indiana, 77 counties were
already operating at 01:00 EST and made no adjustment. However, five Indiana
counties near Cincinnati, OH, and Louisville, KY, adjust from EDT to EST and
five near Chicago, IL, and five surrounding Evansville, IN, adjust from CDT
to CST. ]]

I know that for those fifteen counties an awful lot the folks work in
Cincinnati, Louisville, Chicago or Evansville, so the time zones made sense.
I worked in Louisville, KY for a while and we stayed across the Ohio River
in Clarksville, IN. Phone calls from Louisville to Clarksville were local
calls. I always thought that was generous of Ma Bell.

I worked in Arizona once when Daylight Saving Time came into play. Arizona
went from being MST to PDT.

I worked just outside of Tribune, KS (pop 835) one time. Tribune is in the
Mountain time zone, we stayed in Leoti, KS (pop 1,598) about 20 miles East,
which is in the Central time zone. Man, there is nothing in that part of
Kansas. Anyway, I had forgotten to bring a clock on that trip and the
little motel that we were staying in didn't supply them in the rooms like
they seem to everywhere now days. I remember getting off of work one day at
3:30PM MST and racing to Leoti to buy a clock at the downtown drug store
before it closed at 5PM CST. With a population of 1,598 there was no
Wal-Mart.

I personally think that daylight saving time is a crock anyway.

I'm originally from Canada. There was a time, back during the Carter
administration I believe, when the U.S. fiddled with Daylight Savings Time
to save energy. (That was during the Arab oil embargo.) Anyway, the point is
we used to watch Johnny Carson at 10 pm instead of 11. But all this is so
OT.
