Indexing

Anyone know if Vista Business will index Outlook 2003 emails?

I have installed OneNote 2003 and checked filter and rebuilt index but it
doesn't want to index OneNote files?

Does indexing work with Office 2003?

TIA

Yes, Vista will index Outlook e-mail. If you open the indexing control
panel, do you see "Microsoft Office Outlook" or One Note listed? If you then
click Modify you can expand the Outlook node and see if your mail stores are
being indexed.

I don't see One note listed. I haven't installed Outlook yet. I'm talking
2003 not 2007. Are you sure OneNote and Outlook should work?

Well yes, you have to have Outlook installed {either Outlook XP, 2002, 2003
or 2007} for search of Outlook mail to work.

For OneNote, I *believe*, {and I'm really not an expert on OneNote} that you
need OneNote 2007 as that version includes an add-on to support indexing.
I'm not 100% sure though I'm afraid...

You are correct in this matter Dave about the Add On support for indexing for One Note

Thanks, that's good news I can index Outlook 2003 emails. Doesn't sound good
news for OneNote 2003 users though. I'm going to check in OneNote newsgroup,
but if Microsoft can write a filter for PDF then why not for a recent
version of their own product I ask?

Microsoft didn't write an IFilter for PDF documents. Adboe and Foxit {and
possibly other 3rd parties} do provide PDF filters I believe.

Following up on a OneNote-specific forum would be best for your question I
think.
