i need to increase numbers on a price sheet by 10%. each individual cell
needs to reflect an increase of 10%. a sheet full of numbers! for example,
cell a1 says $10.00, needs to increase to $10.10.

Well, 10% added to 10 is 11, not 10.10 (that would be 1%).
If it is 10%, type 1.1 into an empty cell. Copy (CTRL+C).
Then, select your range of data that will be increased (be sure to ONLY
select the data that is to be increased), Paste Special (ALT+E, S, V), then
select Multiply.
Note, this will change all values, no formulas. If you need to retain the
old amounts, then I'd set up a new column and have it multiply the old column
by 1.1.
Hope this helps.

One easy way to do it would be to type 1.1 in a blank cell. Copy that cell,
highlight the cells you want to increase by 10% and do a paste special and
click on multiply. In your example, it will multiply the $10 by 1.1 to get
$10.10. You can then delete the cell with the 1.1.

Hope that helps.
