Incorrect number of CPU reported on Windows 2000

I recently build two Compaq ML330 G3 servers and both of
them reported incorrect number of cpu. The servers were
build with the Compaq Smartstart 6.4, with SP4, all the
hot fixes and BIOS update. Windows 2000 server OS on the
single 2.8 GHz Xeon processor reported 2 cpu, and dual 2.8
GHz Xeon processor reported 4 cpu.

Anyone seen this problem?

Hyperthreading CPU's like the news P4 Xeon are considered as 2
CPU's each.
So a dual Xeon machine will behave like it has 4 CPU's and
Windows will treat them such.
