Incorrect CPU Speed

I have WIN XP home and when I right click on " My Computer " and then left
click on Properties, the " System Properties " window comes up and on that
window it displays your processor, processor speed and RAM. I have an AMD
Athlon XP 1400+. It shuold run at default at 1.2 gHz, but Windows reports it
as 522 mHz or 625 mHz whenever I check. I've been to AMD website and updated
driver for processor and also updated BIOS, but still WIndows reports the
wrong speed. Does anyone out there have a clue ? Is it a Windows problem ?
Other software correctly identifies the processor and the speed. Thanks for
aby help I can get.

Thanks for the info. Is there a cure for this ? How does a person go about fixing this, or is it something Microsoft has to do or yet to do ?

The problem is cosmetic, I suspect the problem would be addressed in
Service Pack at some point. Here's a utility to confirm the CPU
installed.
