Incorrect APA format in Word 2007

In the Bibliography Word 2007 renders the APA format incorrectly, it adds a
space between the journal name and comma. According to the APA Publication
manual 5th edition there is no space here.

e.g.

Barrick, M. R., Mount, M. K., & Judge, T. A. (2001). Personality and
performance at the beginning of the new millennium: What do we know and where
do we go next? Personality and Performance , 9, 9-30.

Should be:

Personality and Performance, 9, 9-30.
[performance comma space 9 not performance space comma 9]

Anyone know if there is a way around this.

Thanks.

I've not used this feature--but are you sure you didn't accidentally add
a space where the journal name is stored in the citation? It's also
possible that pasting into that field somehow brought a space along
through smart cut and paste or something. I don't recall seeing this
complaint before, that's why I suggest you double-check.

The citation feature is not easily customizable by users, so about all
you can do is complain to MS and hope they fix it, or that third-parties
start offering customization.

I've double checked that I haven't inadvertently entered extra spaces, so
that's not the issue. At the moment I have to convert my list to static text
and remove the spaces manually, which is a bit inconvenient especially when
referencing 35+ journals.

I will try and complain to MS, if I can find a suitable contact and see what
happens.

You might be able to run a Find and Replace that looks for " ," and
replaces it with just a comma. I'm not sure how this will work within a
bibliography created as a field, but I think it should.

If you use this web portal,
http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/FlyoutOverview.mspx
You should be able to search for Suggestions--I think you'll find
existing ones re citations that you can vote for, and posting your own
is supposedly one way to get feedback to MS. There should be other
routes as well, though.
