Incoming mail server (pop3) settings change

Steven R. Moreland

I have a issue with Outlook settings changing. I insert the pop3 server that
my service provider provides me. Later, when I have errors with getting mail
I check the settings and find that the information I saved has been changed
to either 127.0.0.1 or localhost. I also find that the username has a /
followed by the information that I saved in the incoming mail field. What in
the world is causing this to happen? I have customers experincing the same
issue and cannot find what is causing this.

Its likely your intergrated Anti Virus /IS appliction
Within your AV options set it not to scan mails / intergrate with Outlook -
Though you may find you have to uninstall your AV / IS app, clear temp
files, reboot, before reinstalling the AV without the outlook intergration.
You dont need it anyway, since the real time scanner of your AV will/should
detect anything dubious trying to install.
