t-4-2

I asked this question before, and I didn't get a definitive answer. Either
that or I was too dense to understand.
So, I am asking again :
How can I EMBED a video into a ppt and mail it to my recipient. last time I
tried, it was " linked ", not embedded. Thank you.

Please note, I am not looking for PPT to Video converter softwares.

t-4-2,

There is only one way to embed a video in a PowerPoint presentation

Using the Object Packager to embed Video
http://www.indezine.com/notes/2004/08/using-object-packager-to-embed-video.html

The video will be embedded in the presentation (you will not need to send
the presentation *and* the video)
but the video will be played with Windows Media Player *outside* PowerPoint

If that suits you... you can test it... Your OS? Your PowerPoint version?

Very cordialmente

Tim,
This reads as though the video is the entire presentation.

Really? I don't see why...
Does it work if the video is, say, only one side out of many?

Pardon? You have to insert the video, using the Object Packager, in one
slide. You can try to insert 5 videos, using the Object Packager, in one
slide. You can try to insert 1 video per slide, using the Object Packager,
in 50 slides...

;-)

It is easy to follow the instructions and see how it works...

Your OS? Your PowerPoint version?

Cordialmente

How to embedded a video file to your presentation:?
• First of all, the embedded video must be in the correct format.
Make sure it is either in Windows media file (.wmv) or in .avi format.
Save the video on your desktop so that it's easy to embed.
• Step 2
Open your PowerPoint presentation. Embed your video by using the
"Insert," "Movies and Sounds," and "Movie from File" commands.
Navigate to the video file you saved on your desktop and click "OK."
• Step 3
When your presentation is finished, save it as a packaged presentation
by using the "File," "Save As," PowerPoint Show. This will make it
transportable from one computer to the next. Otherwise, the video will
only save as a link. If you click on the link to the video on another
computer--even if it looks like a square box where the video should
be--it will not have point to anywhere as the video was not originally
saved on that computer.
• Step 4
After having saved, re-open your prepackaged file on another computer
to make sure the save worked and the video was transferred.

Ciciamy and Dwightgenius,
You are not reading my post. I am asking how to EMBED, not LINK.
That's ok. I still appreciate your help.
P.S. I have not tried it out yet, but Object Packager appears to be the
answer.

I have not tried the Officeone Protools yet.
I have a question :
The presentation needs to be either pptx or ppsx . So, after the embedding
is done, can I save it as pps so that others with older versions can view it
without the compatibility program installed ?

Saving it to .pps after embedding the media files would take the media files
out. PowerPoint will "unembed" the media files and copy them to Internet
Temporary Files location. It will make a link to the media file in this
location.

Click Insert and Movie and then browse your target folder to import
the downloaded video.
Click Movie from File
Now choose the video which you want to embed into your PowerPoint
Notice: The movie files that can be embeded into PowerPoint must be
asf, avi, mpeg, or wmv. So make sure you have taken the right video
format during the first step.
For PowerPoint2003:
1. On the Insert menu, point to Movies and Sounds, and then click
Movie from File.
2. Click the video you want to use and then click OK.
3. After you click OK, you're prompted with a message asking how you
want the movie to start in the slide show.
Recommend choosing Automatically even if you want the movie to play
when clicked – I'll talk about how to set this part too. (If you
choose When Clicked, you have to click the black box to start the
movie. Because I don’t like to show the black box on the slide, I do
this a little differently.)
4. Right-click the movie object (the small rectangle) and on the
shortcut menu, click Edit Movie Object
5. The Movie Options dialog box appears. select what you want, and
then click OK.

You are not reading my post either.
Let me copy/paste part of the " Embed a YouTube video into PowerPoint "
article which you included in your reply :

2. Embed the YouTube video into PowerPoint
Tip:
Always put the YouTube video in the same folder as your PowerPoint
presentation on your computer. If you later send the PowerPoint presentation
to other person, send the YouTube video too. Keeping the YouTube video in
the same folder as the presentation ensures the link will still work on
other computers. Re-insert the video, if necessary.

That, my friend, is LINK. NOT EMBED.
You have any idea how large is a regular size of a video file? And to e-mail
that with the PowerPoint ? So, I am sending 2 video files + a PowerPoint ? I
should be nuts !
