inbox repair tool

I use Microsoft Outlook to access my email account, but
when I try to send/receive mail or delete old messages the
following error comes up:

C:\windows\localsettings\applicationdata\Microsoft\outlook\
outlook.pst

And I am unable to go any further.

It also tells me to use the INBOX REPAIR TOOL but I can't
find one !

Do a search for scanpst.exe on your computer...make a backup of your PST
file for safekeeping, and then run scanpst against your real PST file.

Hi:

I have had a simi;lar experience and found this entry in the newsgroup invaluable!

Can someone tell me what might cause the in box to get messed up? Is it a virus or some
malfunction in the system? Outlook 2000 here on a W98 system.
