Inbox messages not showing in the Inbox list

Some messages received into my wife's Inbox do not show in the inbox contents
list. However, they show up in a Search result list as being in the Inbox,
and can be Exported from Inbox. Is there some magic configuration setting
causing this? My Inbox inventory has always been fine.

No. Whenever anything appears in the list of any Outlook folder, it appears
correctly, in order with the selected fields for the folder. And only the
Inbox list sometimes has missing entries; apparently all other folder lists
are accurate. This problem is most obvious after doing a Send & Receive,
getting an indication that (say) 2 messages were received, but the Inbox
inventory list is empty. BTW: I have run "C:\Program Files\Common
Files\System\MSMAPI\1033\SCANPST.EXE" often on her "outlook.pst" file, but it
does not fix the problem. (SCANPST.EXE often shows errors even in my file,
particularly after having done a Compress on the Personal Folders.)

If Find shows it in the Inbox, it's in the Inbox. Whether you think so or
not, there MUST be a filter or view modification that is hiding it from you.

If you switch to another view of the Inbox do the messages appear? Look on
the View menu > Arrange By > Current View submenu for a list of potential
views to choose from

I'll have to wait for a reoccurrence, Vince, but I'll try that when it
happens again. To be honest, I don't think it has re-occurred since I
installed Office SP2 recently.

I looked in Viiew->Arrange->Custom in both my wife's and my Inbox, and in
both Filter was "Off". We have never touched that since the PC was uncrated
(Office installed by the OEM manufacturer). The entire that last screen is
identical in both my and my wife's Inbox. Thanks for the suggestion.
