On our router I previously added an IP range to deny access. This morning I
saw that someone got through to our IIS server. Do you know how this could
have happened?

You have to give more details in order to make sense of this.
Did you deny External Internet IPs or local IPs?
Is the IP shown in the Router's log or the IIS log ? Does it belong to this
denied numbers, and is it UDP or and TCP/IP.
